When I was 12 and 13, my parents enrolled me in CISV. Which stands for Children's International Summer Village. The second year I participated, I attended a month long "camp" in Ohio with kids from 6 countries from all over the world. One of the traditions of these camps is for each country to bring traditional costumes and perform some sort of dance or music or whatever. We did, looking back, what I would call an ignorant, but well meaning, homage to Native Americans... particularly tribes from Mississippi. Anyway, the coinciding tradition, was for the kids to swap these costumes with each other. I exchanged mine with this girl from Turkey. I don't remember her name, but I still have the costume in the attic of my Dad's house. Now, that I am going to Turkey, I wish I knew!!!!
