Trucks are RED, tractors are GREEN, June 4th, Winchester to Luray to Charlottesville

We started the day with a quick trip to downtown Winchester, luckily, the home town of Patsy Cline, so, we stopped for a look see. Here is a picture of me in front of Patsy's old home.
We drove on 81 south in search of CAVES! We stopped at what seemed like the most renowned, Luray Caverns in Luray, VA. To get there, Loretta had to climb a mountain (seriously) we were in the clouds!

The caves were amazing, it was hard to even take in what I was seeing, it was the closest I have ever come to being on another planet. (ok, that was dumb, but still) They were so huge and "decorated" (that is what the cave people call it when a cavern has lots of stalactites, stalagmites, curtains etc.). It was so cool underground, in temperature I mean, and some smarty pants in the 50's turned some of the formations into the world's largest pipe organ. That was really cool too, in the awesome kind of way. Here is a video of the caves.

After the caves, we took the scenic route to Sarah's place in Charlottesville. The iphone actually has us taking dirt roads! We were also on the Shanandoah Mountains scenic highway... but, we couldn't see anything, 'cause the clouds were so low. We arrived at Sarah's exausted and like a couple of drowned rats... Sarah took us in and soon after we zipped off to down town Charlottesville for some traditional sounthern food! (I had collards and sweet potatos, yum!) Charlottesville was really cute and predestrian friendly, lots of old homes turned frat houses! Here is a pic from the back roads on the way there.
Thanks Sarah, for the brief tour, the vegan muffins and for such kind hospitality... I am bummed, we didn't remember the cameras!

ps. the title is a bumper sticker we saw outside of Winchester!
